Syed Saleem Shahzad reveals in the Asia Times that the ceasefire came about as a direct result of US pressure on Musharraf; leading to the closing down of the ISI’s main unit (Forward Section 23) in Pakistani Kashmir. He claims that the Pakistani military is looking at Karachi-Sindh as the main route to insert jehadis due the international attention in Kashmir.
For Pakistan then, the ISI, the jihadis and the army are in one mind that the struggle in Kashmir will continue. All that is happening for now, under US pressure, is a shift in tactics, with Karachi becoming a center of activities.
