The many roles of Musharraf

No separation of powers here. Gen Musharraf (re)wrote the consitution. Since he did that, isn’t it fair that he has the final say as to its interpretation?

“There is no ambiguity in Constitution in this context. But people debating the issue of president’s election are unaware of the constitution,” President Musharraf said in a brief interview with AVT Khyber late on Wednesday. [Dawn]

True democracy, indeed.

“I completely believe in the supremacy of parliament and stability of democratic institutions, and completion of legitimate five-year tenure by existing assemblies will be ample proof that I champion democracy,” he said. [DT]

  1. Ahh … hasn’t lost his touch I see. He’s an unfailing source of entertainment. Seemed like he had a regular recurrence of foot-in-the-mouth disease – but now I’m not sure. It’s happens so often it’s more likely he’s practising to be a stand-up comedian.

Indeed Sir. Thatr’s why you threw out an elected Govt and stole power and continue to hold onto it illegally even till this day. Meanwhile bombing Pashtun & Baloch tribals on the pretext of Al Quaida/Taleban is also very much justified isn’t it?
