Singapore – India’s Showroom

“The analogy of Singapore becoming for India what Hong Kong is to China is very relevant and we are working through the CECA on the modalities to achieve it,” visiting Trade and Industry Minister George Yeo said here.[Yahoo!]

Coming rapidly after Jaswant Singh eased restrictions on Indian companies investing abroad, Singapore’s Economic Development Board has set up shop in Mumbai – with a mandate to attract Indian FDI into Singapore. While India may not really need a Hong Kong, free trade between the two countries will be of mutual benefit.
